Restaurant & Place Guide
A practical guide to structuring Restaurants, Places, Menus, Tables, and QR experiences in Menyo.
Last updated: 6/13/2026
This guide walks you through the core building blocks in Menyo—Restaurants, Places, Menus, Tables, and QR codes—and shows how to model your venue for a smooth guest experience and robust analytics.
Core Concepts
- Restaurant: Your brand entity. Use when you manage multiple venues under one brand.
- Place: A specific venue/location (e.g., Main Street Branch). Useful even if you have only one location.
- Menu: A digital menu linked to a Place or Restaurant, with categories and items.
- Tables: Logical seating units inside a Place (e.g., table numbers, bar, terrace) used to route waiter calls and gather area-level analytics.
- QR Codes: Unique codes that open a Menu or a Table scan flow for guests.
Recommended Structure
Use this baseline structure for most venues:
- Create a Place for each physical location.
- Create one or more Menus per Place (e.g., All-day, Drinks, Dessert). Keep them focused.
- Define Areas inside the Place (e.g., Terrace, Bar, Dining Room).
- Add Tables under Areas and link them to the primary Menu used in that area.
- Generate QR Codes for the Menu or directly for Table routes depending on your service flow.
QR Strategy
- Menu QR: Scans always open the same menu URL. Simple and fast for single-menu concepts.
- Table QR: Each table has a unique QR that knows the location (better for analytics and waiter calls).
- Print at high resolution (at least 512×512). Keep quiet zones and contrast strong.
Menu Design Tips
- Use concise item names and appetizing descriptions. Add dietary tags (Vegan, Gluten‑Free).
- Group by clear categories (Starters, Mains, Drinks). Keep 5–10 items per category.
- Feature bestsellers and seasonal items at the top. Use images sparingly but effectively.
- Keep prices visible and consistent. Update regularly to avoid guest confusion.
Staff Workflow
- Place codes by scanning paths (host stand, table, bar). Train staff to recognize QR types.
- Use Areas for routing waiter calls and load balancing.
- Review analytics weekly (top items, dwell time, scan heatmaps) to optimize placement and upsells.
Configuration Checklist
- Brand colors and logo set for Place.
- Primary Menu assigned to each Table/Area.
- QR assets exported and printed (laminated if needed).
- Analytics and consent configured as required by your region.
Next Steps
- Go to Menus to create or refine categories and items.
- Set up Tables and Areas for better routing and analytics.
- Generate QR Codes and print them for placement.
